Skin overview
Case Hardened is a heat-treated look: an oily mix of gold, blue and purple on the blade, set against a black handle with lighter tinted inserts. In Field-Tested the colours are still clearly readable, while the tip and edges pick up a softer, slightly greyed tone. Many buyers see this grade as the practical middle ground for this finish.
Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.
Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.
Appearance in Field-Tested
The blade carries the full patina: a mottled mix of gold, blue, violet and bronze tones that flows unevenly from the base to the clipped tip. The two handles are black with rows of cut-outs, and each holds an elongated insert finished in a lighter gold and grey tint of the same treatment.
The tip and cutting edge show lighter, greyed areas where the patina has thinned, and faint scratches start to appear on the spine. The centre of the blade still holds strong gold and blue tones. The black handles may show light scuffing on their outer edges, while the inserts stay mostly clean. In game the knife still reads as clearly coloured.

What to look at before you buy
- Look at an inspect screenshot of the specific copy, because the placement of blue and gold areas on the blade varies and changes the overall look.
- Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since copies near the cleaner end keep more colour on the tip and edge.
- Inspect the tip, cutting edge and spine, as these lose the patina first.
- Note whether the copy is StatTrak™ or has a name tag, as both affect its appeal to different buyers.
Who the Field-Tested quality suits
- Players who want readable colours in game and do not mind softer edges.
- Buyers looking for a well-placed pattern without paying for a clean float.
- The practical middle ground between appearance and cost.
