Skin overview

The Ruby phase of ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler is easy to spot by its blood-red blade with darker cloudy veins and the black handles with red inserts. Minimal Wear sits at the top of a very narrow float range, so the finish looks almost the same as on cleaner copies. Any difference is limited to faint specks near the tip and edge, which are hard to see in the hand during play.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Anodized Multicolored: several colours in the metal coating; it wears little, the colours only dull with use.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New.

How the skin looks in Minimal Wear

The whole blade is covered in a deep ruby red with darker crimson and near-black marbled clouds, and lighter red highlights along the flat. A thin silver line remains visible on the sharpened edge, which sets off the colour against the curved belly and the clipped tip.

In Minimal Wear the only possible marks are tiny silver specks at the tip and occasionally along the cutting edge. The flat of the blade and the marbled clouds remain intact, so the overall colour is the same as on cleaner copies. At normal viewing distance in game the specks are practically invisible and show up only on close inspection. The handles stay clean.

Minimal Wear wear: float 0.07–0.08

The whole float range of ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Ruby is 0–0.08; Minimal Wear takes the 0.07–0.08 segment (12% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

StatTrak™ version

There is also a the StatTrak™ version: the counter on the weapon tracks kills.

What to look at before you buy

  • Look at the tip and the cutting edge in the inspect view, since these are the first places where silver specks appear.
  • Compare the balance of dark clouds and bright red on the blade, as some copies look darker and others brighter within the same phase.
  • Check the float position within the range, because copies near the top of Minimal Wear may show a speck that cleaner ones do not.
  • Check whether the knife has a name tag and whether a StatTrak™ counter is present, if either matters to you.

Who should buy Minimal Wear

  • Players who want the Ruby colour in game without paying for a flawless blade.
  • Buyers who accept a barely visible speck at the tip in exchange for a lower entry point.
  • Conclusion: a practical way to own the Ruby phase, since in play it looks almost the same as Factory New.
