Overview
★ Gut Knife in its vanilla form is the base model without an applied finish: bare steel on the blade and a reddish-brown wooden handle. It is recognised by the hook cut into the spine of the blade, a feature originally meant for field dressing game and for cutting rope, webbing or belts. A vanilla knife has no wear grade, so every copy looks the same as on the image.
This is the vanilla Gut Knife: the unpainted look of the item in CS2. Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.
The same quality also exists as the regular version.
Appearance
The blade is plain steel with a mottled, slightly hazy surface and a brighter polished band along the curved edge. On the spine sit the gut hook near the tip and a short row of serrations closer to the guard.
Origin of the skin
It drops as a rare special item from:
- CS:GO Weapon Case (on sale since Sep 20, 2013)
- CS:GO Weapon Case 2 (on sale since Sep 20, 2013)

What to check before buying
- A vanilla knife has no float or pattern, so the condition of copies does not differ and you can compare offers only by other parameters.
- Check whether the offer is the StatTrak™ version, since it exists for this knife and adds a kill counter.
- Look at the name tag, if one is applied, and decide whether you want to keep it.
- Make sure the listing name matches ★ Gut Knife without a skin name if you are looking for the plain model.
Who it suits
- Players who want a knife in their loadout and prefer the original steel-and-wood look over a painted finish.
- Buyers who do not want to deal with float or pattern differences, since all copies look the same.
- Collectors who keep vanilla versions of each knife model.
- Conclusion: a plain, predictable choice for those who value the base model's look.
