Skin overview

Desert Storm dresses the G3SG1 in a soft desert camouflage that suits a rifle meant to look used in the field. In Field-Tested the camo is still fully readable, with first scuffs showing on the edges of the handguard and the scope tube. The light grey metal peeking through blends naturally with the sandy palette.

Item type: sniper rifle. The weapon is available only on the Terrorist side. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

How the skin looks in Field-Tested

The receiver, handguard and the scope with its mounts are covered in a hydrographic desert camouflage of rust brown, tan, cream and dark brown blotches with streaky edges. The barrel, flash hider, sights, bolt handle and magazine stay in dark gunmetal, which frames the camo section.

Light scuffs appear along the edges of the handguard, the rims of the scope and the raised ridges of the receiver. Small grey spots break up some of the darker blotches. At normal distance the camo still reads as complete. The centre of the receiver and the flat sides of the scope remain mostly clean.

Field-Tested wear: float 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of Souvenir G3SG1 | Desert Storm is 0.06–0.8; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (31% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Stickers in brown, tan, gold or olive tones blend well with the desert camo. Placing them on the handguard keeps them within the camouflage area, while a single darker sticker near the receiver adds contrast without breaking the sandy look.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, especially in Field-Tested and Well-Worn, where the amount of scraping on the handguard varies noticeably.
  • Inspect the edges of the handguard and the scope tube, since these parts lose paint first.
  • Look at any applied stickers or name tag and decide whether they fit the desert palette.
  • Souvenir copies come with stickers already applied, so check that they suit you before buying.

Who should buy Field-Tested

  • Budget players who want a recognisable camo rifle for everyday matches.
  • Fans of a lightly used field look that suits the desert theme.
  • Conclusion: a practical everyday choice with a complete-looking pattern.
