Skin overview

Dark Operative relies on tone and small details rather than a bright pattern, so a matte black body with white accents is what identifies it. In Field-Tested the dark paint hides scuffs well, and wear shows mostly as lighter spots on edges and the ribbed handguard. From a normal distance the rifle still reads as a tidy, dark service weapon.

Item type: rifle. The weapon is available only on the Counter-Terrorist side. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Gunsmith: several techniques combined on one item; some parts rub off, others only dull.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

Appearance in Field-Tested

The receiver is painted matte black-grey, with a white circular emblem on the magazine well and small white lettering on the upper receiver. The handguard rail covers are a lighter silver-grey with pronounced ribs, contrasting with the dark barrel, front sight and flash hider.

Light patches appear along the handguard ribs, the rails, the carry sight and the edges of the magazine. The white emblem and lettering begin to show small breaks. In game the wear is noticeable mainly on the handguard in inspect, while the dark body still looks solid. Flat areas of the receiver and stock are mostly clean.

Field-Tested quality — float range 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of Souvenir M4A4 | Dark Operative is 0–1; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (23% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

Souvenir M4A4 | Dark Operative belongs to The Spy Tech Collection, which holds 17 skins. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Black, white, silver and grey stickers keep the monochrome look intact, and holo or foil in silver tones adds accent without breaking the style. Place them on the receiver or stock rather than over the white emblem on the magazine well.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since a low value in a grade means cleaner edges and markings.
  • Look at the white emblem on the magazine well, as it is the main graphic detail and shows wear clearly.
  • Inspect the handguard ribs and magazine edges, which lose paint first.
  • For Souvenir copies, check that the applied stickers suit the dark, monochrome finish.

Who should buy Field-Tested

  • Players who want a tidy dark M4A4 for everyday matches.
  • Buyers who value that the dark paint hides scuffs well.
  • A practical everyday option.
