Skin overview

Battle-Scarred is the most worn Check Engine available, and because the float range stops well short of the maximum, the red mesh is not stripped away completely. Large chipped areas cover the silencer, the slide edges and the grip, yet red patches still mark the pistol as this skin. It looks like a gun that has run hard and never been serviced.

Item type: pistol. The weapon is available only on the Counter-Terrorist side. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Spray-Paint: paint sprayed over the metal; scratches and scuffs appear early but look natural.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn.

Appearance in Battle-Scarred

The silencer, slide, frame and grip are all covered with the same red spray-painted mesh of small rounded cells separated by thin dark gaps. On the silencer and slide the cells run in a dense, even grid, while on the grip the pattern sits over the textured panels and reads slightly darker.

Large chipped areas cover much of the silencer, the slide edges, the trigger guard and the grip. Grey metal is now a major part of the look, especially at the front of the gun. Because the range ends before the maximum, red patches remain on the slide sides and the frame. In game the pistol reads as a mix of red and grey with the red still recognisable.

Battle-Scarred wear: float 0.45–0.6

The float of Souvenir USP-S | Check Engine ranges from 0 to 0.6; the Battle-Scarred quality covers 0.45–0.6 — 25% of this skin’s scale. The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Price by quality

Among 9 skins of the USP-S in the Mil-Spec Grade grade and this quality, this skin ranks 8th by price, counting from the dearest.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Red, black and dark grey stickers blend into the mesh for a uniform look, while white or silver ones stand out cleanly against the red. The flat side of the slide is the clearest spot, as the dense pattern there makes small stickers easy to read.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since edge chipping on the silencer and slide grows noticeably towards the dirtier end of each grade.
  • Look at the muzzle end of the silencer and the front of the slide first, as these parts lose paint before the rest of the gun.
  • The mesh is a uniform pattern, so pattern placement matters little and condition is the main factor.
  • On Souvenir copies, check which stickers are already applied and whether they suit the red finish.

Who the Battle-Scarred quality suits

  • Players who want the most weathered version of the finish.
  • Collectors who like that the red never fully disappears in this range.
  • The entry option for those who enjoy a heavily used look.
