Skin overview

This is the most weathered version of the orange drone-map finish. In Battle-Scarred large areas of paint are gone from edges and raised parts, and the fine contour lines blur into the exposed metal, though the orange body still dominates the silhouette. It is the cheapest way to carry the Threat Detected colours.

Item type: sniper rifle. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn.

Appearance in Battle-Scarred

The receiver, handguard, pistol grip and stock are painted orange with a map texture of thin dark contour lines, lighter streaks and small cyan HUD markings. The handguard keeps its black slots and top rail, which frame the orange panels.

Large patches of paint are gone from all edges and raised parts, including the scope, the grip and the stock outline. The map detail and HUD marks are partly lost in the worn areas. Only the flatter middle panels keep a solid orange, which still carries the overall colour at a distance.

The whole float range of SSG 08 | Threat Detected is 0–0.65; Battle-Scarred takes the 0.45–0.65 segment (31% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

SSG 08 | Threat Detected belongs to The Control Collection, which holds 19 skins. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

• Check where the float sits within its wear range, since the low end of a grade looks noticeably cleaner on the scope and handguard.
• Look at the handguard edges, the scope turrets and the grip first, as these lose paint before anything else.
• If it is a Souvenir copy, make sure the pre-applied stickers suit the orange artwork.
• Check any stickers or name tag on the listing so you know what you are paying for.
