Skin overview

This M249 is recognisable by the contrast between its dark gunmetal body and the grey box magazine with the Combine emblem. Minimal Wear keeps that contrast intact, and the few light marks show only up close in inspect. For most buyers it looks the same as the cleanest grade at a lower cost.

Item type: machinegun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Gunsmith: several techniques combined on one item; some parts rub off, others only dull.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the Souvenir version.

Appearance in Minimal Wear

The receiver, top cover and barrel are finished in a deep gunmetal tone close to black, with a faint blue-grey sheen on the flat surfaces. The box magazine under the receiver is a lighter grey and carries small markings and the Combine emblem, making it the brightest part of the gun.

A few faint scuffs may appear on the sharpest edges of the receiver and the corners of the ammo box. They are visible only in close inspect. In game the finish looks practically identical to Factory New. The emblem, stock and grip remain clean.

Minimal Wear quality — float range 0.07–0.15

The whole float range of StatTrak™ M249 | O.S.I.P.R. is 0–0.7; Minimal Wear takes the 0.07–0.15 segment (11% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

The skin’s collection is The Snakebite Collection with 17 skins in total.

It drops from Snakebite Case.

What it costs in each quality

By price this skin is 6th of 8 skins Mil-Spec Grade M249 in this quality (the first being the dearest).

StatTrak™ version

This is the StatTrak™ version: the counter on the weapon shows confirmed kills. There is also the regular version without the counter. Right now the StatTrak™ version is 2× dearer than the regular one.

Stickers and crafts

Monochrome, grey, silver or muted blue stickers keep the restrained gunmetal look intact. Placements on the dark receiver let lighter stickers stand out, while dark stickers blend in for a clean service-weapon style.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since low-float copies keep cleaner edges on the receiver and ammo box.
  • Look at the Combine emblem and markings on the ammo box in inspect, as they fade on more worn copies.
  • Inspect the receiver edges and top rail, which show lighter metal first.
  • Note any stickers or name tag already applied and whether they suit the dark finish.

Who should buy Minimal Wear

  • Players who want a near-clean look without paying for the top grade.
  • Sticker crafters, since the minor marks hardly show.
  • A balanced choice between appearance and cost.
