The bayonet has remained largely unaltered in shape and form ever since World War II, yet it still plays a significant role in present-day military tactics. Even during the second Gulf War and in Afghanistan, bayonet charges have proven to be useful. Although the external parts of the bayonet have rusted, it is still fully functional.
