How the skin looks in Factory New

The blade is dark grey with a mottled stonewashed texture across the whole flat, a bevel line running down to the tip and the gut hook cut into the spine. A row of jimping sits on the spine near the handle. The handle scales are laminate with wavy bands of grey, pale beige and dark lines, fixed with small pins and ending in a lanyard hole at the pommel. On worn copies the cutting edge, the tip and the gut hook lose finish first, followed by the raised edges of the handle scales.

The blade shows only its intended stonewashed mottling, with no extra scratches on the edge or tip. The gut hook and jimping are crisp and dark. The handle layers keep sharp contrast between grey, beige and the dark lines. In game the knife looks clean and uniform from any angle.

• Inspect the cutting edge, the gut hook and the tip, as these lose finish first.
• Look at the contrast of the handle layers on worn copies, because faded grain changes the overall look more than blade scratches do.
• Note whether the copy is StatTrak™ or carries a name tag, as both are fixed to the item.
