Skin overview
★ M9 Bayonet | Stained is a knife with a forced patina finish of dark grey and cold blue-grey blotches over the blade. In Factory New the blotches keep crisp borders, and the polished cutting edge stands out cleanly against the darker metal. This grade suits a buyer who wants the patina exactly as intended, with no scratches over the stains.
Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.
Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.
How the skin looks in Factory New
The blade is covered in a forced patina of dark charcoal and grey patches with pale blue-grey blotches and thin lighter outlines between them. A polished strip along the cutting edge and the fuller hole stay bright and contrast with the stained metal, while the serrated spine runs dark. The crossguard with its ring is plain steel, and the ribbed grip and pommel are dark grey with a slight sheen. The placement of the stains shifts from copy to copy, so some blades show more blue and others more dark grey. On worn copies the patina thins first on the spine, the serrations, the tip and the blade edges.
The patina is intact over the whole blade, with clear borders between the dark and bluish patches. The spine, serrations and tip show no scratches. At normal distance in game the contrast between the stained metal and the bright edge is at its sharpest. The guard and grip look clean.

What to look at before you buy
- Check where the float sits within the wear range, since copies near the cleaner end of a grade show fewer scuffs on the spine and tip.
- Compare the stain placement on the inspect screen, as some copies carry more blue and others more dark grey on the visible side.
- Look at the serrations, tip and blade edges, which lose the patina first.
- Check for a name tag if you prefer the default item name.
Who the Factory New quality suits
- Collectors who want the patina with crisp borders and no scratches.
- Players who inspect their knife often and value the sharpest edge contrast.
- The choice for a buyer who wants the finish exactly as designed.
