Skin overview

This Bowie Knife carries a mottled grey-blue patina that looks like stains etched into the steel. At Minimal Wear the blotches keep their shape and contrast, and any marks are hard to spot without inspecting the blade closely. It gives nearly the same look as the cleanest grade at a lower step in condition.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

Appearance in Minimal Wear

The blade is covered in a forced patina: irregular pale blue and white blotches with darker grey patches over a steel base. The pattern runs from the clip point back past the sawback teeth to the guard, and the placement of the stains differs from copy to copy.

Faint marks may appear at the very tip or along the cutting edge. The stains keep their contrast and outlines over the rest of the blade. At normal viewing distance the knife is hard to tell apart from a Factory New copy. The sawback and flat of the blade still look clean.

Minimal Wear quality — float range 0.07–0.15

The whole float range of ★ StatTrak™ Bowie Knife | Stained is 0–1; Minimal Wear takes the 0.07–0.15 segment (8% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

It drops from Operation Wildfire Case as a rare special item.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since copies near the top of a grade look noticeably cleaner.
  • Compare stain placement between copies, because the patina pattern differs on each blade.
  • Inspect the cutting edge, tip and sawback teeth, as these lose the patina first.
  • Look for a name tag and decide whether it suits you, since knives cannot carry stickers.

Who should buy Minimal Wear

  • Players who want a near-clean look without paying for the top grade.
  • Buyers who rarely look at the knife up close.
  • A sensible balance of clean appearance and condition.
