Skin overview

The knife's identity rests on the contrast between a red, web-patterned blade and plain dark handles that flash during inspect animations. In Minimal Wear the red still reads as solid at normal distance, with only faint marks near the edge and tip. It keeps most of the Factory New look for buyers who do not need the very top grade.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

How the skin looks in Minimal Wear

The blade is coated in a deep red base with a black spider web hydrographic and a semi-gloss topcoat. The handles are dark grey metal with cut-outs and carry no pattern, and the small latch near the pivot is red.

Small scuffs appear along the cutting edge and at the tip, showing thin lines of steel. The flat of the blade and the web stay clean. At normal distance the difference from Factory New is barely visible. The handles show no meaningful change.

Minimal Wear quality — float range 0.07–0.15

The whole float range of ★ StatTrak™ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web is 0.06–0.8; Minimal Wear takes the 0.07–0.15 segment (11% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

It is the rare special item of Operation Breakout Weapon Case (on sale since Jun 23, 2014) — knives and gloves drop far less often than the regular contents.

What it costs in each quality

Among 23 skins of the Butterfly Knife in the Covert grade and this quality, this skin ranks 8th by price, counting from the dearest.

StatTrak™ version

This is the StatTrak™ version: the counter on the weapon shows confirmed kills. There is also the regular version without the counter. Right now the StatTrak™ version is 17% dearer than the regular one.

What to check before buying

  • Check the web placement on the blade, since a clear, centred web is valued more than scattered lines.
  • Compare the float within the wear range, because the lower end keeps more red on the edge and tip.
  • Inspect the tip, cutting edge and spine, where bare steel shows first.
  • Look for a name tag and the StatTrak™ counter if those matter to you.

Who the Minimal Wear quality suits

  • Players who want a near-clean look in game without paying for the top grade.
  • Collectors who accept faint edge marks invisible at normal distance.
  • A sensible balance between look and cost.
