Skin overview

The skin pairs a dark, burnt-looking metal finish with a network of red veins across the receiver, handguard and stock. At Minimal Wear the patina style hides small marks well, so the gun reads almost the same as a Factory New copy in hand. Buyers get the full magma look while the faint differences stay on edges you rarely notice in a match.

Item type: machinegun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

Appearance in Minimal Wear

The receiver, feed cover and handguard are finished in near-black oxidised metal with an irregular web of red and copper veins resembling cracked magma. The same pattern runs down the stock and pistol grip, where the red patches are spread more widely across the larger surfaces.

Small light scuffs may appear on the sharpest edges of the receiver and the carry handle. The red veins remain saturated and the dark base still looks even. At normal distance the gun is practically indistinguishable from Factory New. The stock, handguard surfaces and grip stay clean.

Minimal Wear wear: float 0.07–0.15

The float of M249 | Magma ranges from 0 to 0.7; the Minimal Wear quality covers 0.07–0.15 — 11% of this skin’s scale. Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Where the skin comes from: collection and case

Price by quality

Among 9 skins of the M249 in the Mil-Spec Grade grade and this quality, this skin ranks 4th by price, counting from the dearest.

StatTrak™ and Souvenir

There is also a the StatTrak™ version: the counter on the weapon tracks kills. Right now it is 9% dearer than the regular one. There is also a the Souvenir version with tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Red, gold and black stickers continue the magma theme and sit well on the dark receiver. Holographic or foil stickers in warm tones stand out against the black base, while bright blue or green ones clash with the red veins.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since copies near the top of a grade show noticeably more bare metal on the edges.
  • Look at the carry handle, sight and stock corners in the inspect view, as these lose the red pattern first.
  • Compare how much red remains on the receiver and stock, because the pattern placement makes some copies look brighter than others in the same wear.
  • Note any stickers or name tag already applied and whether they fit the dark red scheme.

Who the Minimal Wear quality suits

  • Players who want a near-clean look without paying for the top grade.
  • Sticker crafters, since the small edge marks do not affect the main surfaces.
  • A sensible compromise that looks almost the same in game.
