Skin overview

M249 | Sage Camo pairs sage green, grey and olive blotches in a hydrographic pattern that looks like issued field gear. In Battle-Scarred the scratches spread from the edges onto larger areas of the receiver and box magazine, giving the gun a rough, heavily used look. The finish range stops short of the most damaged floats, so the pattern does not disappear entirely.

Item type: machinegun. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

How the skin looks in Battle-Scarred

The receiver and the top cover are wrapped in a grey-green camouflage with darker olive patches, while the barrel, muzzle and handguard area stay mostly dark grey metal. The box magazine shows the pattern most clearly, with large olive, grey and pale sage blotches across its flat sides.

Heavy scratching covers the edges and spreads over large parts of the receiver and box magazine. The olive blotches lose their clear borders in many places. In game the gun looks rough and patchy, yet the pattern is still present because the float range does not reach the most damaged values. The stock and grip are worn too but hold the most colour.

Battle-Scarred wear: float 0.45–0.6

The float of M249 | Sage Camo ranges from 0 to 0.6; the Battle-Scarred quality covers 0.45–0.6 — 25% of this skin’s scale. Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Where the skin comes from: collection and case

The skin’s collection is The Boreal Collection with 29 skins in total. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

Souvenir version

There is also a the Souvenir version with tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Muted olive, khaki, black or matte grey stickers fit the military palette without breaking it. The flat sides of the box magazine and the receiver give the most readable placement. A single brighter accent can work if the rest of the craft stays in earth tones.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since a low float in a grade shows noticeably fewer scuffs.
  • Look at the corners of the box magazine and the receiver edges, as these wear first on this finish.
  • Souvenir copies come with stickers already applied, so check whether they match the look you want.
  • Pattern placement shifts the blotches slightly between copies, so compare the box magazine if the look matters to you.

Who the Battle-Scarred quality suits

  • Players who want the most affordable entry into this finish.
  • Those who like a rough, heavily used look on their gear.
  • A basic budget option that keeps the camo recognisable.
