Skin overview

Currents is a monochrome hydrographic finish where silver birds sit over layered grey patches. In Battle-Scarred large areas of print are gone from the barrel, pump and stock edges, leaving the birds only partly visible on the flatter surfaces. It is the cheapest way to own the skin and suits anyone who does not mind a heavily scuffed shotgun.

Item type: shotgun. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn.

How the skin looks in Battle-Scarred

The whole gun is covered in a grayscale hydrographic print: dark charcoal and olive-grey patches overlaid with pale silver bird silhouettes. The birds are most visible on the receiver sides and the wide flat surface of the stock, while the long barrel shows a darker, more mottled section of the pattern.

Large areas of bare metal cover the barrel, pump and receiver edges, and the stock is scuffed well beyond its edges. Many bird silhouettes are broken or partly erased. In game the shotgun looks heavily worn, with the pattern reduced to scattered grey patches. Only the central parts of the receiver sides and the stock still hold readable pieces of the print.

Battle-Scarred wear: float 0.45–0.65

The whole float range of Nova | Currents is 0–0.65; Battle-Scarred takes the 0.45–0.65 segment (31% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

Nova | Currents belongs to The Achroma Collection, which holds 20 skins. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

Souvenir version

There is also a the Souvenir version with tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Silver, white, black and holo stickers suit the grayscale print and echo the silver birds. Placing them on the receiver keeps the bird pattern on the stock visible, and a single bright accent can work as a contrast against the monochrome finish.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since copies near the top of a range look noticeably cleaner than those near the bottom.
  • Look at the muzzle, the pump ribs and the stock edges, as these lose print first.
  • Make sure the birds on the receiver sides and the stock are intact, because they carry the whole design.
  • On Souvenir copies, check the pre-applied stickers and whether they fit the grey colour scheme.

Who should buy Battle-Scarred

  • Budget players who just want a skin on their Nova.
  • Those who enjoy a heavily scuffed, battle-worn appearance.
  • Conclusion: the most affordable entry into this skin.
