Skin overview

AWP | Medusa pairs a dark base with a blue-green gorgon painting on the stock and body. Battle-Scarred strips much of that paint away, leaving the face and snakes as worn traces surrounded by exposed metal. It is the most affordable way to own the skin, with the trade-off of a clearly damaged picture.

Item type: sniper rifle. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

Appearance in Battle-Scarred

The barrel, muzzle and scope are kept in dark grey and black, so the attention goes to the rear of the rifle. The receiver and lower body carry a near-black base with blue and teal detailing, and the stock holds the main artwork: the gorgon with snakes coiling across the thumbhole and cheek area, highlighted with lighter cold tones.

Most edges and raised parts of the stock, receiver and magazine are worn down to metal. The gorgon and the snakes survive as faded, broken fragments. At normal distance the rifle reads as dark metal with patches of blue-green rather than a full painting. Some colour remains in the recessed parts of the stock.

Where the skin comes from: collection and case

Souvenir AWP | Medusa belongs to The Gods and Monsters Collection, which holds 14 skins. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Stickers in blue, teal, silver or holo finishes match the cold palette of the gorgon artwork. Placing them on the dark barrel or receiver keeps the painting on the stock visible.

What to look at before you buy

• Look at the float position within the wear grade, since a low float keeps the stock edges noticeably cleaner.
• Inspect the gorgon's face and the cheek rest, as wear on these areas affects the look most.
• Check the stock edges and the corners of the receiver and magazine for exposed metal.
• For Souvenir copies, check which stickers are already applied, since they cannot be changed.
