Show allAllSkin overview
Magma is recognisable by its black and dark red surface, with the bright veins giving the gun a heated, volcanic feel. In Field-Tested the red begins to soften on raised parts and lighter metal shows through on edges, which suits the oxidised style rather than spoiling it. It is a balanced choice for players who want the colours without paying for a clean finish.
Item type: machinegun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.
Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.
The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.
How the skin looks in Field-Tested
The receiver, feed cover and handguard are finished in near-black oxidised metal with an irregular web of red and copper veins resembling cracked magma. The same pattern runs down the stock and pistol grip, where the red patches are spread more widely across the larger surfaces.
Wear becomes visible on the edges of the receiver, the carry handle, the sight and the front of the handguard, where lighter metal shows through. The red veins lose some brightness on raised details. In game the black and red scheme still reads clearly, and the scratches blend into the patina style. The flat panels of the stock and the middle of the receiver still look mostly intact.
Field-Tested quality — float range 0.15–0.38
The float of Souvenir M249 | Magma ranges from 0 to 0.7; the Field-Tested quality covers 0.15–0.38 — 33% of this skin’s scale. The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.
Where the skin comes from: collection and case
Souvenir M249 | Magma belongs to The Winter Offensive Collection, which holds 13 skins.
It drops from Winter Offensive Weapon Case (on sale since Dec 18, 2013).
Souvenir version
This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.
Stickers and crafts
Red, gold and black stickers continue the magma theme and sit well on the dark receiver. Holographic or foil stickers in warm tones stand out against the black base, while bright blue or green ones clash with the red veins.
What to check before buying
- Check where the float sits within the wear range, since copies near the top of a grade show noticeably more bare metal on the edges.
- Look at the carry handle, sight and stock corners in the inspect view, as these lose the red pattern first.
- Compare how much red remains on the receiver and stock, because the pattern placement makes some copies look brighter than others in the same wear.
- Note any stickers or name tag already applied and whether they fit the dark red scheme.
Who the Field-Tested quality suits
- Players who use the M249 and want a recognisable dark red skin for everyday matches.
- Buyers who like light edge wear that fits the oxidised style.
- A good balance between appearance and cost.
