Skin overview

MAG-7 | Insomnia is a Custom Paint Job for the CT-side shotgun that shows fish swimming into a person's open mouth, drawn in orange and black. In Factory New the orange-red upper and the dark lower body keep crisp borders, and the thin light outlines of every fish stay sharp. The odd little story on the side reads exactly as painted.

Item type: shotgun. The weapon is available only on the Counter-Terrorist side. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Custom Paint Job: hand-painted across the whole body; this is the type where wear shows most, the artwork rubs down to metal.

Other qualities of this skin: Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

Appearance in Factory New

The upper receiver, top rail and barrel shroud are painted solid orange-red, while the barrel tip and the rear sight stay black. The lower receiver, the round front grip and the pistol grip are dark grey, and the side of the body carries the main drawing: a face with an open mouth and orange fish with thin light outlines swimming towards it.

The orange-red upper and shroud are clean, with even colour up to the edges. The fish outlines and the face on the lower body are fully detailed. At normal distance in game the skin reads as a bright orange top over a busy dark pattern. Nothing on the weapon shows bare metal.

Factory New quality — float range 0–0.07

The whole float range of Souvenir MAG-7 | Insomnia is 0–1; Factory New takes the 0–0.07 segment (7% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Black, white and orange stickers match the palette and keep the craft calm. Placements on the dark lower body work best as long as they do not cover the face with the open mouth. Sea or fish themed stickers echo the artwork well.

What to check before buying

• Check where the float sits inside its wear grade, since the edges of the orange upper show the difference first.
• Look at the shroud and muzzle area on the inspect screen, as these parts lose paint early.
• On worn copies make sure the face and the fish on the side of the body are still readable.
• Note any applied stickers or name tag, and remember that StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions exist.
