Skin overview

SG 553 | Ultraviolet in its roughest form: the purple coat is heavily chipped and grey metal shows across the raised parts. Battle-Scarred suits the spray-paint idea of the finish, looking like a rifle repainted by hand and used hard. The colour scheme remains readable despite the damage.

Item type: rifle. The weapon is available only on the Terrorist side. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Solid Color: a single colour without a pattern; wear dulls it evenly and rubs it off along the edges.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

Appearance in Battle-Scarred

The handguard with its long ribbed rails, the barrel, front sight and the scope are painted solid purple. The receiver and the magazine stay dark grey to black, which splits the rifle into two clear colour zones.

Heavy chipping covers the handguard, scope and muzzle, and grey metal breaks through on the stock and grip edges. The magazine and receiver are scuffed along all edges. In game the weapon looks rough and patchy, with purple and grey mixed on the raised parts. Clean paint survives only in recessed areas and on the flattest surfaces.

Battle-Scarred wear: float 0.45–0.8

The whole float range of Souvenir SG 553 | Ultraviolet is 0.06–0.8; Battle-Scarred takes the 0.45–0.8 segment (47% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

Souvenir SG 553 | Ultraviolet belongs to The Arms Deal Collection, which holds 9 skins.

It drops from CS:GO Weapon Case (on sale since Sep 20, 2013).

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Purple, violet and holographic stickers blend with the colour scheme, while black, silver or white ones contrast well on the dark receiver. Placing stickers on the grey middle section keeps them readable against the purple ends.

What to look at before you buy

  • On a flat solid-colour finish every chip is visible, so check the float position within the wear range rather than the grade alone.
  • Inspect the handguard rail ridges, scope rims and muzzle, since these lose paint first.
  • Note that the Factory New band for this skin is very narrow, so compare it carefully with low Minimal Wear copies.
  • Check applied stickers and any name tag, as they strongly change the look of such a plain finish.

Who should buy Battle-Scarred

  • Players who want the most affordable entry into this skin.
  • Fans of a rough, hand-repainted look where heavy chipping fits the idea.
  • The pick for character and budget rather than cleanliness.
