Skin overview

Battle-Scarred is the narrowest and most worn grade of this XM1014, sitting at the very top of its float range. The silver base and map pattern are faded across edges and raised parts, leaving a dull, scuffed steel look. Since the finish is understated even when clean, the worn copy still looks coherent rather than broken.

Item type: shotgun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

How the skin looks in Battle-Scarred

The barrel is a deep blue-black with light streaks along its length, while the magazine tube and forend carry the metallic silver-olive base with darker terrain-map shapes running across them. The receiver is dark grey steel with a few small yellow accents near the top rail, and the front sight also shows a touch of yellow.

Edges and raised parts across the whole weapon are faded, including the muzzle, forend, receiver top, grip and stock contours. The metallic sheen is largely gone, leaving dull scuffed steel. In game the skin reads as a dark, worn gunmetal shotgun. Only the recessed and flat areas keep traces of the original colours.

Battle-Scarred quality — float range 0.45–0.5

The whole float range of Souvenir XM1014 | Quicksilver is 0–0.5; Battle-Scarred takes the 0.45–0.5 segment (10% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

Souvenir XM1014 | Quicksilver belongs to The Chroma Collection, which holds 14 skins.

The source is Chroma Case (on sale since Jan 8, 2015).

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Silver, holo and foil stickers in blue, white or black tones match the metallic palette. A single yellow sticker near the receiver can echo the small yellow accents already on the finish.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since the metallic sheen fades gradually and a low float keeps noticeably more of it.
  • Look at the muzzle, forend edges and top of the receiver, as these lose the translucent layer first.
  • Pattern placement changes little on this finish, so focus on wear rather than pattern.
  • Review any applied stickers or name tag, because they can add to the cost without matching the cool palette.

Who should buy Battle-Scarred

  • Players who like a heavily used gunmetal look.
  • Collectors completing every wear grade of the skin.
  • Conclusion: the cheapest entry with a coherent worn style.
