SSG 08 | Prey (Factory New)

Skin overview

SSG 08 | Prey is a Consumer Grade finish that covers the rifle in a rust-coloured zebra stripe pattern, applied as spray paint. In Factory New the stripes keep crisp borders and the reddish-brown base stays even across the handguard, scope and stock. This is the cleanest way to see the pattern as intended.

Item type: sniper rifle. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Spray-Paint: paint sprayed over the metal; scratches and scuffs appear early but look natural.

Other qualities of this skin: Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

How the skin looks in Factory New

The finish uses a reddish-brown rust base with irregular pale grey and darker zebra-like stripes. The stripes run across the long handguard, the receiver, the scope body and the skeletal stock, including the cheek rest and grip. The barrel and muzzle brake stay mostly dark metal, as do parts of the bipod, which frames the painted areas. On worn copies the paint goes first on the handguard edges, the scope rings and turrets, the top of the receiver and the stock edges, exposing metal underneath.

The paint is intact on every part, with clear stripe borders and an even rust base. The scope rings and handguard edges show no exposed metal. In game the rifle reads as a uniform reddish-brown with distinct striping. Everything looks clean.

What to check before buying

• Check where the float sits within the wear range, since a low float in a grade can look close to the next cleaner one.
• Look at the scope rings and handguard edges first, as they lose paint before the rest of the rifle.
• Souvenir copies come with pre-applied stickers, so check whether you want them on the rifle.
• Inspect any applied stickers or name tag in the screenshot, because they change how the striped finish reads.

Who the Factory New quality suits

• Collectors who want the stripes and rust colour in their cleanest state.
• Sticker crafters who need an even base on every panel.
• The best choice if a fully intact finish matters to you.
