Skin overview

In Field-Tested the black handles start to show light scratches along their rails, while the layered inlays remain clearly readable. The stonewashed blade already looks weathered by design, so the extra wear blends into the finish rather than breaking it. A practical grade for daily play with a knife that hides use well.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Gunsmith: several techniques combined on one item; some parts rub off, others only dull.

Appearance in Field-Tested

The blade has a stonewashed finish: mottled grey steel with darker clouding and a brighter polished edge, topped by a black spine and black serrations near the pivot. Both handles are black with round cutouts along their length, and the open slots show inlays of layered laminate in grey, white and near-black stripes.

Scratches spread along the handle rails and start to touch the rims of the cutouts, with small exposed spots on the spine. The laminate inlays are mostly clean, with light scuffs at their ends. The stonewashed blade picks up darker patches that merge with its texture. In game the knife looks used but still neat.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since a low float in Field-Tested or Minimal Wear keeps the handle edges noticeably cleaner.
  • Look at the handle edges and the rims of the cutouts in the inspect view, as this is where the black coating goes first.
  • Check the laminate inlays for scuffs on more worn copies, because they carry the skin's main contrast.
  • Note whether the copy is StatTrak™ and whether it has a name tag.

Who should buy Field-Tested

  • Everyday players who want a butterfly knife that hides use well.
  • Buyers hunting for a low float in this grade to get a cleaner look.
  • The most practical grade for regular play.
