Skin overview

Crimson Web on the Butterfly Knife is a red hydrographic with black web lines laid only on the blade, while the handles stay dark grey. Field-Tested copies show bare steel creeping in along the cutting edge and tip, giving the blade a used, working look. The web is still clearly readable, so the skin keeps its character.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

How the skin looks in Field-Tested

The blade is coated in a deep red base with a black spider web hydrographic and a semi-gloss topcoat. The handles are dark grey metal with cut-outs and carry no pattern, and the small latch near the pivot is red.

The edge and tip show a clear strip of bare steel, and light scratches start to reach the spine. The red on the flat of the blade dulls slightly, but the web remains readable. In game the knife looks used but still clearly red. The handles stay dark and largely uniform.

Field-Tested wear: float 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of ★ Butterfly Knife | Crimson Web is 0.06–0.8; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (31% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

It drops from Operation Breakout Weapon Case (on sale since Jun 23, 2014) as a rare special item.

What to check before buying

  • Check the web placement on the blade, since a clear, centred web is valued more than scattered lines.
  • Compare the float within the wear range, because the lower end keeps more red on the edge and tip.
  • Inspect the tip, cutting edge and spine, where bare steel shows first.
  • Look for a name tag and the StatTrak™ counter if those matter to you.

Who should buy Field-Tested

  • Players who want the readable web and red colour at a lower cost.
  • Those who like a slightly used, working look on the blade.
  • A practical middle option for everyday play.
