Skin overview

Stained is defined by blotches outlined in blue-grey on a dull steel blade, a finish meant to look aged. Field-Tested copies show bright scuffs along the edge and tip, and on this finish they fit the used look. The large blade shape and dark grip keep the knife recognisable.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

Appearance in Field-Tested

The finish covers the curved blade with a forced patina: a pale steel base with irregular grey and steel-blue blotches, each with a darker outline. Near the cutting edge the metal looks lighter and more polished, while the flat and the notched spine carry the densest staining.

Bright scuffs run along the cutting edge and around the tip, and the spine notches start to lose staining. The centre of the blade keeps most of its blotches, though some outlines soften. In game the knife reads as an aged blade, which matches the finish. The grip stays clean and dark.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since a low float keeps more patina on the tip and edge.
  • Look at blotch placement on inspect, as copies differ in where the staining gathers.
  • Inspect the tip, cutting edge and spine notches, which lose the patina first.
  • Check whether the knife is StatTrak™ and whether it has a name tag.

Who the Field-Tested quality suits
