Skin overview

In Field-Tested the Crimson Web finish starts to show where the knife is handled most. The blade keeps its red colour and readable web, but the edges and the area around the finger ring pick up visible scuffs of bare metal. It is a common middle ground between a clean look and a lower budget.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

How the skin looks in Field-Tested

The double-edged blade is painted in deep red with a black spider web hydrographic running across both faces, finished with a semi-gloss topcoat. The narrow ground edges along the blade show a thin line of steel, and the row of small holes on the blade is outlined by the red paint.

Wear becomes visible on the cutting edges, the tip and the rim of the finger ring, where small patches of steel show through. The middle of the blade keeps most of its red colour and readable web lines. At normal distance the knife still reads as red with a web, with lighter spots near the edges. Copies at the cleaner end of this grade look close to Minimal Wear.

Field-Tested wear: float 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of ★ Skeleton Knife | Crimson Web is 0.06–0.8; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (31% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

What to check before buying

  • Look at the web placement on the blade, since each copy has its own pattern and the number and position of webs change the look.
  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, as copies at the cleaner end look noticeably better in mid and worn grades.
  • Inspect the tip, the cutting edges and the rim of the finger ring, which lose paint first.
  • Check whether the knife is StatTrak™ and whether it carries a name tag, if that matters to you.

Who should buy Field-Tested

  • Players who want the red web look and accept light edge wear.
  • Buyers looking for a balance between appearance and cost.
  • Conclusion: a sensible middle grade, best picked from the cleaner end.
