Battle-Scarred Blue Steel keeps the recognisable Bowie shape and sawback spine, but the cold bluing is heavily worn and broken up by scratches. The blade takes on a mixed grey and blue look with bare metal in many spots, while the overall dark tone of the knife remains. It is the most accessible way to carry this finish and suits players who like a rough, heavily used appearance.

Heavy scratching covers most of the blade, and large areas of bare grey steel replace the bluing along the edge, tip and spine. The guard and pommel are worn on all raised parts. In game the knife reads as a rough grey-blue blade rather than a uniform blued finish. Only scattered patches of the original dark patina remain.
