Skin overview

Black Laminate is recognisable by its contrast of a grey, mottled blade against a lighter laminate handle with dark diagonal slots. In Field-Tested the blade gains visible scuffs and lighter patches, which suit the already worn-in stonewash style. The knife reads as a tool that has been used, without looking damaged.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Gunsmith: several techniques combined on one item; some parts rub off, others only dull.

Appearance in Field-Tested

The back-swept blade has a stonewashed finish: dark grey steel covered in a fine, uneven mottled texture with lighter streaks. The spine near the base carries a row of serrations, and the pivot area is a darker, near-black metal.

Scuffs become visible on the blade, mostly along the edge, the tip and the serrated spine. Some lighter patches break up the mottled texture. The handle starts to show light wear on its raised edges, while the grooves stay clear. In game the knife reads as used but intact.

Field-Tested wear: float 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of ★ StatTrak™ Flip Knife | Black Laminate is 0–1; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (23% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since the blade edge and tip show the difference first.
  • Inspect the serrated spine and the tip in close-up, as these parts reveal wear sooner than the flat of the blade.
  • Look at the handle's raised edges and grooves on worn copies to see how much of the laminate texture is left.
  • Note whether the copy is StatTrak™ and whether it carries a name tag that you would want to keep.

Who the Field-Tested quality suits

  • Players who like a knife that looks used but not damaged.
  • Buyers looking for a practical everyday knife on a calm finish.
  • Conclusion: a reasonable middle ground that suits the finish's working style.
