Skin overview

Stained is a patina finish, so even the most worn copies keep the blue-grey marbled character on the blade next to the black handle. In Battle-Scarred the edge and tip are heavily scratched and the stains look patchier, which fits the rough idea of the finish. It is the most affordable way into this knife and pattern.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn.

Appearance in Battle-Scarred

The finish covers the blade only: light blue-grey steel with darker blue veins and cloudy stains, giving a marble-like look that runs from the tip past the fuller cutout and the gut hook. The serrated section and the spine carry the same stains, slightly darker toward the back of the blade.

Heavy scratches cover the edge, tip, serrations and spine, and wear spreads onto the blade flats. The stains look patchy, with more bare steel showing between them. In game the patina still gives the blade its cold marbled tone, since the finish was uneven by design. The handle remains untouched by the finish wear.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within its wear grade, since lower values keep the edge and tip cleaner.
  • Look at the stain pattern on the blade, as the amount of blue and the placement of veins differ between copies.
  • Inspect the cutting edge, tip and serrations, which lose the patina first.
  • Check whether the item is StatTrak™ or carries a name tag if that matters to you.

Who the Battle-Scarred quality suits

  • Players looking for the most affordable entry to this knife.
  • Fans of a rough, heavily used look that matches the patina idea.
  • The budget entry that still keeps the cold marbled tone.
