Skin overview

Battle-Scarred is the roughest take on ★ Talon Knife | Stained: the blade is heavily scratched and the patina is broken up into a dull, uneven grey. The aged look of the finish hides damage better than bright paints do, so the knife still reads as stained steel rather than ruined. It remains a Talon with an ivory handle and brass rivets.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

How the skin looks in Battle-Scarred

The blade is covered in a forced patina: cloudy grey, bluish and smoky stains spread over polished steel, with the heaviest blotches along the middle of the curve. The spine carries saw-tooth ridges and three round holes, and the edge and tip stay lighter than the body of the blade.

The blade is densely scratched along its whole length and the patina breaks into uneven grey patches. The edge, tip and saw-tooth spine look the most worn. The handle is clearly scuffed but keeps its ivory tone and brass details. In game the knife reads as dark, weathered steel.

Battle-Scarred quality — float range 0.45–1

The float of ★ StatTrak™ Talon Knife | Stained ranges from 0 to 1; the Battle-Scarred quality covers 0.45–1 — 55% of this skin’s scale. The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since scratches on the edge and tip grow quickly toward the dirtier end.
  • Look at the stain layout in inspect, as the placement and darkness of the patina differ between copies.
  • Inspect the saw-tooth spine and the tip, which lose their patina first.
  • Note whether a name tag is applied and whether a StatTrak™ counter matters to you.

Who should buy Battle-Scarred

  • Players looking for the most affordable way into this knife.
  • Fans of a heavily weathered, dark steel look.
  • An entry option where the finish still suits heavy wear.
