Skin overview

Tornado is a solid-colour SG 553 finish of tan and slate grey, and Battle-Scarred is its roughest version. The paint is heavily chipped, especially across the receiver, so dark metal shows through in large patches. Because this skin does not reach the very top of the float scale, even the most worn copies keep the basic two-tone layout readable.

Item type: rifle. The weapon is available only on the Terrorist side. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Solid Color: a single colour without a pattern; wear dulls it evenly and rubs it off along the edges.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn.

Appearance in Battle-Scarred

The receiver and trigger area are painted a flat sand tan, the only warm colour on the rifle. The railed handguard, magazine, pistol grip and skeletal stock are sprayed a matte slate grey with a slight blue cast, and the scope housing follows the same grey tones, while the barrel and muzzle stay dark.

Large areas of the tan receiver are worn through, and the handguard rails show bare dark metal along most of their ribs. The magazine, grip and stock carry heavy chipping on edges and noticeable scuffing on flat faces. In game the rifle looks rough and darker overall, with the tan reduced to broken patches. The basic colour split still remains recognisable.

Battle-Scarred wear: float 0.45–0.8

The whole float range of SG 553 | Tornado is 0.06–0.8; Battle-Scarred takes the 0.45–0.8 segment (47% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

SG 553 | Tornado belongs to The Assault Collection, which holds 7 skins. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

What it costs in each quality

Among 7 skins of the SG 553 in the Consumer Grade grade and this quality, this skin is the dearest.

Souvenir version

There is also a the Souvenir version with tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Muted stickers in tan, olive, brown or grey blend with the colour scheme, while a single orange or warm gold accent works well against the slate handguard. Placements on the grey parts stand out more than on the tan receiver, so a clean sticker on the handguard or magazine tends to read best.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the chosen grade, since copies at the clean end of a grade look noticeably better on the tan receiver.
  • Look at the receiver first, because chips on the light tan paint are the most visible part of the wear.
  • Inspect the rail ribs and the magazine base, which lose paint before the rest of the rifle.
  • Pattern does not change this solid-colour finish, so focus on float, stickers and name tag instead.

Who should buy Battle-Scarred

  • Players after the rough, heavily chipped look.
  • The cheapest way to put a finish on the SG 553.
  • A choice for those who want a battered rifle on purpose.
