Skin overview

This is the sand-and-slate SG 553 from the Tornado finish, where colour blocking rather than a pattern defines the look. At Minimal Wear the scheme is visually intact, and any marks are small enough to need a close look at the edges. It gives nearly the same picture as the cleanest grade and is a sensible pick for anyone who wants the rifle to look fresh.

Item type: rifle. The weapon is available only on the Terrorist side. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Solid Color: a single colour without a pattern; wear dulls it evenly and rubs it off along the edges.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

Appearance in Minimal Wear

The receiver and trigger area are painted a flat sand tan, the only warm colour on the rifle. The railed handguard, magazine, pistol grip and skeletal stock are sprayed a matte slate grey with a slight blue cast, and the scope housing follows the same grey tones, while the barrel and muzzle stay dark.

Tiny scuffs may appear on the sharpest edges, such as the rail ribs and the front of the handguard. The tan receiver remains clean on its flat surfaces, and the grey parts hide any small marks. In game it is practically indistinguishable from Factory New. The colour blocks and their borders stay intact.

Minimal Wear wear: float 0.07–0.15

The whole float range of SG 553 | Tornado is 0.06–0.8; Minimal Wear takes the 0.07–0.15 segment (11% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

SG 553 | Tornado belongs to The Assault Collection, which holds 7 skins. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

What it costs in each quality

Among 8 skins of the SG 553 in the Consumer Grade grade and this quality, this skin is the dearest.

Souvenir version

There is also a the Souvenir version with tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Muted stickers in tan, olive, brown or grey blend with the colour scheme, while a single orange or warm gold accent works well against the slate handguard. Placements on the grey parts stand out more than on the tan receiver, so a clean sticker on the handguard or magazine tends to read best.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the chosen grade, since copies at the clean end of a grade look noticeably better on the tan receiver.
  • Look at the receiver first, because chips on the light tan paint are the most visible part of the wear.
  • Inspect the rail ribs and the magazine base, which lose paint before the rest of the rifle.
  • Pattern does not change this solid-colour finish, so focus on float, stickers and name tag instead.

Who should buy Minimal Wear

  • Buyers who want the Factory New look without paying for the top grade.
  • Sticker crafters who need a clean base with neutral colours.
  • A practical near-mint option for everyday play.
