Skin overview

Exothermic is a red burst-pattern finish that covers everything except the barrel. In Battle-Scarred large areas of paint are gone and bare grey metal breaks up the red, especially on the scope and along the stock. It is the most affordable way into the skin and gives a rough, beaten look that some players prefer.

Item type: sniper rifle. Restricted sits in the middle of the rarity scale: noticeably rarer than Mil-Spec, yet not truly rare.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

How the skin looks in Battle-Scarred

The stock, grip area, receiver and handguard are painted bright red with a hydrographic burst pattern of darker red streaks that fan out in different directions. The scope tube and its mounts carry the same red pattern, while the barrel, muzzle brake and bipod stay in dark grey metal.

Large patches of bare grey metal cover the scope and break up the red on the stock, receiver and handguard. The burst pattern survives only in fragments between the scratches. In game the rifle looks red mixed with grey, with a heavily used character.

Stickers and crafts

Red, black and gold stickers fit the burst pattern without clashing with it. Darker stickers placed along the flat side of the stock stand out well against the busy red texture, while bright colours away from red can look out of place.

What to look at before you buy

• Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since a low float in the middle grades keeps much more red on the scope.
• Look at the scope and stock edges in the inspect view, as these parts lose paint first.
• Check applied stickers and any name tag, because they change how the red body reads.
• Compare a few copies side by side, since the hydrographic pattern sits slightly differently on each one.
