Skin overview

M4A4 | Griffin is built around a single large illustration, so wear changes its character more than it does on pattern-based finishes. In Well-Worn the copper has broken up into patches and the grey base shows through on the magazine and the lower receiver. The griffin still reads as a shape, giving the rifle a weathered, painted-over look.

Item type: rifle. The weapon is available only on the Counter-Terrorist side. Restricted sits in the middle of the rarity scale: noticeably rarer than Mil-Spec, yet not truly rare.

Custom Paint Job: hand-painted across the whole body; this is the type where wear shows most, the artwork rubs down to metal.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

Appearance in Well-Worn

The rifle has a dark grey gunmetal base, and the main illustration sits on the receiver and magazine well: a griffin with a white eagle head and brown-copper feathered wings spreading down toward the grip. The magazine continues the artwork with copper framing and teal-green panels, while the pistol grip and lower receiver carry the same warm brown tone.

The copper paint is broken into patches across the magazine, grip and lower receiver, with grey metal showing through. The wings lose much of their feather detail, and the white head is noticeably dulled and scraped. In game the griffin reads as a worn shape rather than a detailed drawing. The upper receiver and the inner area of the illustration hold up better than the edges.

Well-Worn quality — float range 0.38–0.45

The whole float range of Souvenir M4A4 | Griffin is 0–0.8; Well-Worn takes the 0.38–0.45 segment (9% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

The skin’s collection is The Vanguard Collection with 14 skins in total.

It drops from Operation Vanguard Weapon Case (on sale since Nov 5, 2014).

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Copper, gold, brown and white stickers match the griffin's palette, and teal or green accents echo the magazine panels. Placements on the handguard and the upper receiver keep the central griffin visible.

What to check before buying

• Check the float within the chosen grade, since copies near the cleaner boundary keep noticeably more of the griffin.
• Look at the magazine edges and the wing tips first, because they lose paint before the rest of the illustration.
• Make sure the white griffin head is still bright on worn copies, as it carries most of the design.
• Review any applied stickers and name tag to see whether they cover the griffin on the receiver.
