The XM1014 | Red Python snakeskin pattern was made to look weathered, so the most damaged grade fits its rough reptile theme. The float range of this skin ends early, so Battle-Scarred copies are only slightly more worn than Well-Worn: the barrel and muzzle are rubbed through, but the red tone and scale clusters remain visible. It is the entry point into the skin.
Item type: shotgun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.
Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.
Other qualities of this skin: Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.
Appearance in Battle-Scarred
The barrel, magazine tube and handguard carry a dense pattern of dark red and rust scales with scattered olive and tan patches, giving a mottled snakeskin texture. The ribbed forend and the receiver continue the same print, with lighter tan scale clusters around the receiver side.
Battle-Scarred has the muzzle and the front of the barrel largely worn to grey metal, with heavy scratches on the handguard and forend. The stock edges and cheek rest are clearly rubbed. Thanks to the narrow float range the damage stays close to Well-Worn, so the red scales still read in game. The receiver keeps the most intact part of the print.
Battle-Scarred wear: float 0.45–0.5
The float of Souvenir XM1014 | Red Python ranges from 0.08 to 0.5; the Battle-Scarred quality covers 0.45–0.5 — 12% of this skin’s scale. The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.
Where the skin comes from: collection and case
Souvenir XM1014 | Red Python belongs to The eSports 2014 Summer Collection, which holds 17 skins.
The source is eSports 2014 Summer Case (on sale since Jul 9, 2014).
Souvenir version
This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.
Which stickers suit it
Red, gold and dark brown stickers match the snakeskin, while olive or black ones echo the scale patches. The receiver side, where the lighter scale clusters sit, is the most visible spot for a sticker.
What to check before buying
- There is no Factory New, so a low float in Minimal Wear is the cleanest option available.
- Check the muzzle, handguard edges and forend ribs first, since that is where the print wears off.
- Look at the beige cheek rest on the stock, as scratches show more clearly on the light panel.
- StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions exist, so make sure the copy you pick matches what you want.
Who should buy Battle-Scarred
- Players looking for the cheapest way into this skin.
- Those who like a heavily used shotgun that still shows its red scales.
- The entry grade, and close to Well-Worn in appearance.
