Skin overview

A Well-Worn Sand Dune looks like a rifle that has seen real use: the solid tan coat is broken by grey metal on edges, rails and the scope. The colour blocks are still readable, so the weapon remains clearly a desert-painted SSG 08. For many players this rough look suits the finish better than a pristine one.

Item type: sniper rifle. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Solid Color: a single colour without a pattern; wear dulls it evenly and rubs it off along the edges.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Battle-Scarred.

How the skin looks in Well-Worn

The receiver, handguard and chassis are sprayed in a light sand tan, with the rail section on top of the handguard in a slightly darker shade. The barrel and muzzle brake stay dark grey to black, giving the main contrast of the finish.

Bare metal spreads along the handguard edges, the scope body and the bipod, and the stock corners lose their paint. The scope tube shows clear patches of grey. In game the rifle looks visibly used, though the tan colour still dominates. The centre of the side panels and the grip keep most of their coat.

Well-Worn wear: float 0.38–0.45

The whole float range of SSG 08 | Sand Dune is 0.06–0.8; Well-Worn takes the 0.38–0.45 segment (9% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

SSG 08 | Sand Dune belongs to The Baggage Collection, which holds 15 skins. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

What it costs in each quality

Among 9 skins of the SSG 08 in the Consumer Grade grade and this quality, this skin is the dearest.

Souvenir version

There is also a the Souvenir version with tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Stickers in sand, brown, olive or gold tones blend with the desert palette, while a single black or dark sticker echoes the barrel. The flat side of the handguard is the clearest place for a sticker on this finish.

What to look at before you buy

  • The Factory New window on this skin is very narrow, so compare float values when choosing between Factory New and Minimal Wear copies.
  • On worn copies inspect the scope, rail edges and bipod first, since they lose paint before the rest of the rifle.
  • Souvenir copies come with stickers already applied, so check that their placement suits you.
  • There is no StatTrak™ version of this skin, so check for a name tag instead if you want a personal touch.

Who the Well-Worn quality suits

  • Players who like a used, rugged look on a desert rifle.
  • Budget buyers who still want the tan colour to dominate.
  • Conclusion: for those who prefer character over polish.
