Skin overview

Black Laminate is a muted knife finish built on grey steel and a striped black-and-grey grip. In Field-Tested the stonewashed blade hides much of the wear, while the handle starts to show softened edges on the laminate layers. In hand it still looks like a working tool rather than a damaged one.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Gunsmith: several techniques combined on one item; some parts rub off, others only dull.

Appearance in Field-Tested

The blade is stonewashed steel in dark grey with lighter mottling toward the edge and the clipped point, and the sawback teeth run along the spine. The crossguard and pommel are dark, nearly black metal.

The guard edges and spine teeth show clear rubbing, and the raised curves of the grip begin to fade. The pale bands of the laminate look slightly duller. The blade carries more uneven patches, though they merge with the stonewashed texture. In game the knife still looks coherent and clean enough.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since lower values keep the grip contrast sharper.
  • Look at the guard edges and spine teeth on the inspect screen, as they show wear first.
  • Compare how the laminate bands fall on the handle, because their placement can differ between copies.
  • Note whether the knife is StatTrak™ or carries a name tag if that matters to you.

  • Those who like a used, working-tool look that still reads clean in game.
  • Conclusion: the practical everyday choice.
