Skin overview

This butterfly knife carries a camouflage-style net pattern sprayed in olive tones across the whole surface. Field-Tested copies show the first bare metal along the cutting edge and tip, which actually fits the utilitarian, field-used character of the finish. The mesh itself remains readable on the handles during the flip animations.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Spray-Paint: paint sprayed over the metal; scratches and scuffs appear early but look natural.

How the skin looks in Field-Tested

The blade, handles and pivot area are painted in a dusty olive-grey base with a lighter sage net pattern sprayed through a mesh stencil, giving rounded, cell-like shapes along the whole length. The clip-point blade carries the mesh up to the tip, while the spine and serrated section near the pivot are slightly darker.

A clear strip of bare metal runs along the cutting edge, and the tip loses part of its paint. The outer rims of the handles begin to show small silver chips, especially near the latch end. The mesh on the blade flat and the handle faces is still well defined. In game the worn edge is visible during inspection but the overall olive look holds.

Field-Tested wear: float 0.15–0.38

The float of ★ Butterfly Knife | Safari Mesh ranges from 0.06 to 0.8; the Field-Tested quality covers 0.15–0.38 — 31% of this skin’s scale. Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Where the skin comes from: collection and case

It is the rare special item of Operation Breakout Weapon Case (on sale since Jun 23, 2014) — knives and gloves drop far less often than the regular contents.

StatTrak™ version

There is also a the StatTrak™ version: the counter on the weapon tracks kills. Right now it is 5% dearer than the regular one.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check the float within the chosen grade, since the cutting edge and tip are the first places where paint disappears.
  • Look at the handle rims and the area around the holes on worn copies to see how much of the mesh is left.
  • Decide whether you want the StatTrak™ version, as it exists for this knife and is priced separately.
  • The pattern placement changes little between copies, so condition matters more than pattern here.

Who the Field-Tested quality suits

  • Players who want the butterfly knife model and animations at a balanced condition.
  • Fans of utilitarian finishes for whom a worn edge suits the camouflage style.
  • Conclusion: a practical middle option where the mesh still reads clearly.
