Skin overview

Warbird is a deliberately aged skin, and the most worn grade takes that idea to its end. In Battle-Scarred large areas of the blue-grey paint are gone, the yellow heat shield is broken up and the magazine box shows plenty of bare metal. The pattern still keeps its general colour, so the gun looks retired rather than blank.

Item type: machinegun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Gunsmith: several techniques combined on one item; some parts rub off, others only dull.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

How the skin looks in Battle-Scarred

The receiver is painted in a faded blue-grey tone with rust spots, stains and grime, and a yellow heat shield strip sits on top of the body above the feed area. The box magazine under the receiver repeats the washed-out blue colour and carries a small white marking on its side.

Large patches of paint are gone from the magazine box, the receiver and the stock, exposing bare metal. Only fragments of the yellow heat shield remain. In game the gun reads mostly as worn grey metal with traces of blue. Faded paint still holds in the recessed areas and on the flat centre of the sides.

Battle-Scarred wear: float 0.45–0.65

The whole float range of Souvenir M249 | Warbird is 0.05–0.65; Battle-Scarred takes the 0.45–0.65 segment (33% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

Souvenir M249 | Warbird belongs to The Shattered Web Collection, which holds 17 skins.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Muted stickers in yellow, orange, olive or faded blue fit the aged military palette and echo the heat shield. Weathered or scraped stickers look natural on this finish, while bright glossy ones tend to stand out against the grime. The flat sides of the receiver and the magazine box are the most visible spots.

What to look at before you buy

  • Look at the float position within the wear range, since a low float keeps the yellow heat shield and the box corners intact for longer.
  • Inspect the magazine box and the heat shield first, because real wear shows there before anywhere else.
  • Remember that the rust and grime are part of the artwork, so judge actual paint loss by bare metal, not by stains.
  • Check applied stickers and the name tag, as they change both the look and how easy the copy is to resell.

Who should buy Battle-Scarred

  • Budget players who want the cheapest entry into this finish.
  • Owners who enjoy a truly battered machinegun that matches the old bird from the description.
  • In short, the most worn yet still coloured take on the skin, for those who do not chase clean paint.
