Skin overview

M249 | Warbird is a Mil-Spec Grade Gunsmith finish that dresses the machinegun in faded blue-grey paint with a yellow heat shield and deliberate rust and grime. In Factory New the artificial ageing is shown exactly as painted, with no real scratches on top. The heat shield and the painted magazine box keep their full tone, so the old-bird look stays intentional rather than damaged.

Item type: machinegun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Gunsmith: several techniques combined on one item; some parts rub off, others only dull.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

Appearance in Factory New

The receiver is painted in a faded blue-grey tone with rust spots, stains and grime, and a yellow heat shield strip sits on top of the body above the feed area. The box magazine under the receiver repeats the washed-out blue colour and carries a small white marking on its side.

There is no real wear on top of the painted weathering, and the rust and grime appear exactly as drawn. The magazine box corners, the heat shield and the receiver edges keep full paint. At normal distance the gun shows an even blue-grey body with a clear yellow accent. This is the cleanest version of the artwork the skin can have.

Factory New quality — float range 0.05–0.07

The float of Souvenir M249 | Warbird ranges from 0.05 to 0.65; the Factory New quality covers 0.05–0.07 — 3% of this skin’s scale. Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Muted stickers in yellow, orange, olive or faded blue fit the aged military palette and echo the heat shield. Weathered or scraped stickers look natural on this finish, while bright glossy ones tend to stand out against the grime. The flat sides of the receiver and the magazine box are the most visible spots.

What to look at before you buy

  • Look at the float position within the wear range, since a low float keeps the yellow heat shield and the box corners intact for longer.
  • Inspect the magazine box and the heat shield first, because real wear shows there before anywhere else.
  • Remember that the rust and grime are part of the artwork, so judge actual paint loss by bare metal, not by stains.
  • Check applied stickers and the name tag, as they change both the look and how easy the copy is to resell.

Who the Factory New quality suits

  • Collectors who want the artwork exactly as designed, without real damage on top of the painted ageing.
  • Sticker crafters who need clean colour under muted or yellow accents.
  • In short, the version for those who want the old-bird look staged, not lived in.
