Skin overview

The Field-Tested Basilisk shows how the patina finish ages: the dark metal turns duller and patchier, while the etched serpent and scale texture stay in place. The rifle looks used, but the motif is still clear.

Item type: rifle. The weapon is available only on the Counter-Terrorist side. Restricted sits in the middle of the rarity scale: noticeably rarer than Mil-Spec, yet not truly rare.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

Appearance in Field-Tested

The whole rifle is finished in dark gunmetal with a slight olive tint. The receiver carries an engraved basilisk drawn in fine light-grey lines, and the ribbed handguard has a matching scale-like etching.

The patina becomes patchy across the receiver and handguard, with duller areas on the edges and the carry handle. The engraved basilisk loses some contrast but stays readable. The stock, grip and magazine show light scuffing. In game the rifle reads as worn metal, while the motif is still clear.

Field-Tested quality — float range 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of Souvenir M4A1-S | Basilisk is 0–0.68; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (34% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

Souvenir M4A1-S | Basilisk belongs to The Vanguard Collection, which holds 14 skins.

The source is Operation Vanguard Weapon Case (on sale since Nov 5, 2014).

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Dark, metallic and holographic stickers in silver, gold or olive tones match the gunmetal finish. Placing them on the receiver near the engraving or along the handguard keeps the basilisk as the focus, while a single bright accent stands out well against the dark base.

What to check before buying

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since copies near the cleaner edge of a grade keep more contrast in the engraving.
  • Inspect the receiver to see how clearly the basilisk engraving reads on this copy.
  • Look at the carry handle, receiver edges and silencer tip, as these parts lose tone first.
  • Check for applied stickers or a name tag and decide whether they suit you.

Who the Field-Tested quality suits

  • Players who like an aged metal look with a readable motif.
  • Buyers who want a solid daily rifle without paying for clean grades.
  • The most balanced grade for regular play.
