Skin overview

Desert-Strike is easy to recognise by its two-tone scheme: warm sand on top of black and graphite. In Field-Tested the tan panels begin to lose paint on the edges of the handguard and magazine, and the dark metal shows through. The overall pattern is still clearly readable and gains a used look.

Item type: rifle. The weapon is available only on the Counter-Terrorist side. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Custom Paint Job: hand-painted across the whole body; this is the type where wear shows most, the artwork rubs down to metal.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

How the skin looks in Field-Tested

The base of the rifle is dark graphite and black, with tan used as the accent colour. The ribbed handguard is largely sand-coloured with dark breaks, and the barrel carries a tan section near the front sight.

Tan paint is visibly rubbed off along the handguard ribs and the edges of the magazine, with dark metal showing through. Smaller scratches start to appear on the corners of the receiver and stock. In game the rifle looks used but the two-tone design remains clear. The larger tan areas on the grip and stock are still mostly intact.

Field-Tested quality — float range 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of Souvenir M4A4 | Desert-Strike is 0–0.7; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (33% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

Souvenir M4A4 | Desert-Strike belongs to The Huntsman Collection, which holds 20 skins.

It drops from Huntsman Weapon Case (on sale since Jun 11, 2014).

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Stickers in tan, gold, brown or black blend with the desert palette of the finish. Placing them on the dark receiver gives better contrast than on the busy handguard.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since copies near the top of a grade look noticeably cleaner.
  • Inspect the handguard ribs and magazine edges, as the tan paint wears there first.
  • Look at the grip and stock to see how much of the larger tan areas remains.
  • Check applied stickers and the name tag, since they change how the rifle looks and may not suit every buyer.

Who should buy Field-Tested

  • Players who want the recognisable design at a lower cost.
  • Those who like a used, field-weapon look on their rifle.
  • A practical option for everyday play.
