Skin overview

SSG 08 | Green Ceramic is built on plain shades of green, and in Battle-Scarred that paint is heavily chipped. Bare metal shows across the handguard, scope and stock, giving a rough, field-worn rifle. It is the cheapest way to get the green scheme and suits players who like a beaten look.

Item type: sniper rifle. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Solid Color: a single colour without a pattern; wear dulls it evenly and rubs it off along the edges.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn.

Appearance in Battle-Scarred

The receiver and long handguard with its cut-outs and top rail are painted medium green, while the stock frame takes a slightly darker green. The scope tube and its rings are olive and khaki, and the pistol grip, cheek rest and butt pad are a pale sage tone.

Heavy chipping covers the handguard, receiver, scope and stock, with large areas of bare metal. The grip and butt pad lose much of their sage tone. In game the rifle looks rough and patchy, though the green base is still recognisable. Little of the finish remains fully clean.

Battle-Scarred wear: float 0.45–0.75

The whole float range of SSG 08 | Green Ceramic is 0–0.75; Battle-Scarred takes the 0.45–0.75 segment (40% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

The skin’s collection is The Boreal Collection with 29 skins in total. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

What it costs in each quality

By price this skin is 7th of 9 skins Consumer Grade SSG 08 in this quality (the first being the dearest).

Souvenir version

There is also a the Souvenir version with tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Gold, cream and earthy brown stickers sit well against the green handguard and keep the calm military feel. Placements on the flat sides of the handguard and receiver are most visible. Bright red or orange accents give a strong contrast for those who want a bolder craft.

What to check before buying

  • Since the finish has no pattern, the float value is the main thing that separates one copy from another.
  • Look at the handguard edges, the top rail and the scope bells, as these chip first.
  • On Souvenir copies check the applied stickers, since they change the look of the plain green body.
  • A name tag can add character to such a simple finish, so check whether one is present.

Who should buy Battle-Scarred

  • Players who enjoy a rough, heavily chipped finish.
  • Anyone looking for the cheapest entry to this skin.
  • Conclusion: the most affordable way to get the green scheme.
