Skin overview

In Field-Tested the Crimson Web finish on the Bowie Knife starts to show its use: the red is still dominant, but the edge, tip and sawback lose paint. The web lines remain readable on the flat of the blade, so the skin is still easy to recognise. It suits buyers who want the classic red-and-black web look at a more accessible grade.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

How the skin looks in Field-Tested

The whole blade of the Bowie Knife, including the clip point and the sawback teeth on the spine, is painted red with a semi-gloss topcoat. A thin black spider web is printed over it by hydrographic, and its lines run across the flat of the blade.

Bare steel becomes visible along the cutting edge, on the tip and on the sawback teeth. The red starts thinning along the spine, and the web lines near worn areas lose contrast. In game the blade still reads as red with a web, but the edge outline turns grey. The area close to the guard looks largely clean.

Field-Tested quality — float range 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of ★ Bowie Knife | Crimson Web is 0.06–0.8; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (31% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

It is the rare special item of Operation Wildfire Case — knives and gloves drop far less often than the regular contents.

What to look at before you buy

  • Look at the pattern: the placement of the web lines and their centres on the visible side of the blade changes how the skin looks.
  • Check the tip, cutting edge and sawback teeth, as they lose paint first.
  • Compare the float within the grade, since copies near the lower end of a grade look noticeably cleaner.
  • Check whether the knife has a name tag and whether it is the StatTrak™ version you want.

Who the Field-Tested quality suits

  • Players who want the recognisable red web finish for everyday play.
  • Buyers who do not mind grey along the edge as long as the web stays readable.
  • Conclusion: a practical grade to use this knife regularly.
