Skin overview

Stained is defined by irregular pale stains over a steel-grey Bowie blade, set against a black grip. At Field-Tested the patina starts to look used: lighter scuffs appear along the edge and the sawback, while the main stain pattern stays readable. For a finish that imitates aged metal, this grade fits the theme well.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

Appearance in Field-Tested

The blade is covered in a forced patina: irregular pale blue and white blotches with darker grey patches over a steel base. The pattern runs from the clip point back past the sawback teeth to the guard, and the placement of the stains differs from copy to copy.

Light scuffs are visible along the cutting edge, the tip and the sawback teeth. The stain pattern on the flat of the blade is still clear but starts to soften in places. In game the knife looks used without losing its mottled look. The area near the guard stays the cleanest part of the blade.

Field-Tested wear: float 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of ★ Bowie Knife | Stained is 0–1; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (23% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

It is the rare special item of Operation Wildfire Case — knives and gloves drop far less often than the regular contents.

What to look at before you buy

  • Check where the float sits within the wear range, since copies near the top of a grade look noticeably cleaner.
  • Compare stain placement between copies, because the patina pattern differs on each blade.
  • Inspect the cutting edge, tip and sawback teeth, as these lose the patina first.
  • Look for a name tag and decide whether it suits you, since knives cannot carry stickers.

Who the Field-Tested quality suits

  • Players who like the used look that matches an aged-metal theme.
  • Buyers who want the mottled pattern still clearly readable.
  • A practical middle option for everyday play.
