Skin overview

Case Hardened turns the Talon's sweeping blade into a mix of heat-tinted blue, violet and golden steel, with a matching tint on the finger ring. In Field-Tested the patina starts to look slightly muted and scratched, which suits the forged, worked-metal character of the finish. Many buyers choose this grade as the balance between a recognisable pattern and a lower entry point.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

How the skin looks in Field-Tested

The curved blade carries the case-hardened patina: blue, violet and orange patches gather toward the tip and along the spine, shifting into pale gold and olive steel near the base. The spine has saw-tooth ridges and three round cut-outs, which take the same mottled colouring.

Scratches become visible along the cutting edge, the tip and the saw-tooth spine, and the colours look slightly dimmer. The outer side of the finger ring starts to lose some tint. In game the pattern still reads clearly, with the scuffs showing mainly on close inspection. The central part of the blade keeps most of its colour.

Field-Tested quality — float range 0.15–0.38

The whole float range of ★ StatTrak™ Talon Knife | Case Hardened is 0–1; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.38 segment (23% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

What to check before buying

  • Look at the pattern on both sides of the blade, because the amount of blue and gold differs between copies.
  • Check where the float sits within the wear grade, as copies at the cleaner end keep more colour on the tip and spine.
  • Inspect the cutting edge, spine teeth and finger ring, since these lose the patina first.
  • Note whether the knife is StatTrak™ and whether it carries a name tag.

Who should buy Field-Tested

  • Players who want the Talon Knife with a readable patina for everyday use.
  • Buyers who like the slightly worked-metal look that suits this finish.
  • Conclusion: a balanced middle grade between look and cost.
