Skin overview

This Talon Knife is recognised by its bright red blade broken up by diagonal pale streaks and its cream handle with brass rivets. In Field-Tested the red coat shows scratches at the tip, the cutting edge and the spine teeth, while the overall colour still reads clearly. It is the most affordable way into this finish.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Anodized Multicolored: several colours in the metal coating; it wears little, the colours only dull with use.

How the skin looks in Field-Tested

The blade is coated in a deep tomato red candy layer over aluminum and chrome paints, which show through as pale pink and whitish stripes running diagonally across the steel. The serrated spine and the row of round holes near it carry the same red coat, so the stripes continue around the cut-outs.

Scratches on the tip and along the cutting edge become visible, and the spine teeth lose some coating. The outer edge of the finger ring can show light chipping. The centre of the blade still holds the red and the stripe pattern, so the knife reads as clearly red in game. The ivory handle and brass rivets stay as they are.

Field-Tested wear: float 0.15–0.26

The whole float range of ★ Talon Knife | Slaughter is 0.01–0.26; Field-Tested takes the 0.15–0.26 segment (44% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

What to check before buying

  • Look at the stripe arrangement on the blade, since the balance of red and pale streaks differs from copy to copy.
  • Check the blade tip and spine teeth, as they show wear first.
  • Compare the float within the grade, because a low float in Field-Tested looks much cleaner than one near the upper limit.
  • See whether the knife has a name tag and whether you like it.

Who should buy Field-Tested

  • Budget buyers looking for an entry into this finish.
  • Players who care about the overall red look in game more than small scratches.
  • A practical way to own the skin, best chosen with a low float.
