Skin overview

The Slaughter finish turns the Talon Knife's curved blade into a field of red and pale pink stripes, while the ivory grip stays neutral. At Minimal Wear the coating can pick up faint marks near the tip and along the serrated spine, but they are hard to see without inspecting the model closely. In hand the knife reads almost the same as a Factory New copy.

Item type: knife. Covert is the top weapon rarity: usually the most prominent items of a collection or case.

Anodized Multicolored: several colours in the metal coating; it wears little, the colours only dull with use.

Appearance in Minimal Wear

The blade is coated in a deep tomato red candy layer over aluminum and chrome paints, which show through as pale pink and whitish stripes running diagonally across the steel. The serrated spine and the row of round holes near it carry the same red coat, so the stripes continue around the cut-outs.

Small specks can appear on the blade tip and the tops of the spine teeth. The middle of the blade, the stripe edges and the ring usually remain clean. At normal viewing distance in game the difference from Factory New is barely noticeable. Copies near the cleaner end of this grade look practically unworn.

Minimal Wear wear: float 0.07–0.15

The whole float range of ★ Talon Knife | Slaughter is 0.01–0.26; Minimal Wear takes the 0.07–0.15 segment (32% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

What to check before buying

  • Look at the stripe arrangement on the blade, since the balance of red and pale streaks differs from copy to copy.
  • Check the blade tip and spine teeth, as they show wear first.
  • Compare the float within the grade, because a low float in Field-Tested looks much cleaner than one near the upper limit.
  • See whether the knife has a name tag and whether you like it.

Who the Minimal Wear quality suits

  • Players who want a near-clean look without paying for the top grade.
  • Buyers who rarely zoom in on the blade tip.
  • A balanced pick between appearance and cost.
