Skin overview

M249 | System Lock pairs a bright red body with a dark graphite upper receiver and a black barrel, giving the machine gun a sharp two-tone sci-fi look. In Factory New the red is even and saturated on the box magazine, stock and handguard. The dark panels and red fields stay crisply separated, so the design reads clearly.

Item type: machinegun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Custom Paint Job: hand-painted across the whole body; this is the type where wear shows most, the artwork rubs down to metal.

Other qualities of this skin: Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

Appearance in Factory New

The upper receiver and feed cover are painted dark graphite with thin light-grey panel lines, and the barrel with its handguard area stays black. The lower receiver, the side panels and the handguard sides are covered in bright red, separated from the dark upper part by sharp angular borders.

The red paint is intact on every part, including the corners of the box magazine and the butt of the stock. The graphite upper receiver keeps its thin panel lines sharp. In game the weapon shows a clean, saturated red with a crisp border to the dark upper part.

Factory New wear: float 0–0.07

The whole float range of Souvenir M249 | System Lock is 0–0.8; Factory New takes the 0–0.07 segment (9% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

Souvenir M249 | System Lock belongs to The Chroma Collection, which holds 14 skins.

It drops from Chroma Case (on sale since Jan 8, 2015).

What it costs in each quality

By price this skin is 2nd of 4 skins Mil-Spec Grade M249 in this quality (the first being the dearest).

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Red, black, white and silver stickers fit the scheme best and keep the sci-fi look intact. The dark graphite upper receiver is a good place for bright red or white stickers, which stand out there without clashing with the red lower half.

What to look at before you buy

  • Look at where the float sits within the wear grade, since a low-float copy shows less chipping on the box magazine.
  • Inspect the corners of the red box magazine and the rear of the stock, as these parts lose paint first.
  • Check applied stickers and any name tag, because they change how the clean red-and-black design reads.
  • Decide whether you want the StatTrak™ version, which is available for this skin.

Who should buy Factory New

  • Collectors who want the red and graphite fields fully intact.
  • Sticker crafters who need a clean base for a colour-matched build.
  • Conclusion: the choice for those who want System Lock without a single chip.
