Skin overview

This M249 is built around solid red paint against dark metal, so wear shows up as darker metal coming through the red. At Well-Worn, the box magazine edges, the stock and the handguard are clearly scuffed, giving the weapon a used, field-service look. The overall red-and-black scheme is still easy to recognise.

Item type: machinegun. Mil-Spec Grade is the lowest rarity found in cases and the most common one among them.

Custom Paint Job: hand-painted across the whole body; this is the type where wear shows most, the artwork rubs down to metal.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Battle-Scarred. The same quality also exists as the StatTrak™ version.

How the skin looks in Well-Worn

The upper receiver and feed cover are painted dark graphite with thin light-grey panel lines, and the barrel with its handguard area stays black. The lower receiver, the side panels and the handguard sides are covered in bright red, separated from the dark upper part by sharp angular borders.

Chipping spreads from the edges onto the faces of the box magazine and along the stock, and the handguard sides show clear scuffs. Dark metal breaks up the red in several places, and the upper receiver loses some panel-line clarity. In game the red is still dominant, but the worn look is visible even without inspecting.

Well-Worn wear: float 0.38–0.45

The whole float range of Souvenir M249 | System Lock is 0–0.8; Well-Worn takes the 0.38–0.45 segment (9% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

The skin’s collection is The Chroma Collection with 14 skins in total.

The source is Chroma Case (on sale since Jan 8, 2015).

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Which stickers suit it

Red, black, white and silver stickers fit the scheme best and keep the sci-fi look intact. The dark graphite upper receiver is a good place for bright red or white stickers, which stand out there without clashing with the red lower half.

What to check before buying

  • Look at where the float sits within the wear grade, since a low-float copy shows less chipping on the box magazine.
  • Inspect the corners of the red box magazine and the rear of the stock, as these parts lose paint first.
  • Check applied stickers and any name tag, because they change how the clean red-and-black design reads.
  • Decide whether you want the StatTrak™ version, which is available for this skin.

Who the Well-Worn quality suits

  • Budget buyers who want the red-and-black scheme at a lower grade.
  • Players who like a used, field-service look on a machine gun.
  • Conclusion: an affordable way to get the design with visible character.
